I tried rolling back to QT to 7.3.1 from 7.4.5, but no luck.

Ever since I installed MC 3.0, TPMGEnc Xpress 4.0 has been crashing when I choose to transcode to a QT format. Maybe we're just not looking close enough? The DVDs both look very good. I can't see any difference between downscaled CF AVI and the same files re-wrapped as MOVs when using TMPGEnc to convert to mpgs.
